Three weeks in the books!

Now that we have been in class for a few of weeks, we have more material available to work with. I would like you describe your installation experiences with Vista in your lab environment. Did you encounter any problems? How did you go about fixing the issue?

I would also like you to describe how you have your lab machines partitioned. Are you using basic or dynamic disks? How many partitions/volumes did you set up? What partition/volume type are they? What are their purposes? Did you have any problems with partitions/volumes and how did you resolve them?

In a few sentences, explain in detail what you have learned in the 1st week of class. Explain how you have implemented this knowledge into your home lab environment. Was it the type of installs available? Or maybe the information we learned so far about TCP/IP?

Active Directory Maximum Limits - Scalability ??

Learning about Firewalls and Security at Computertraining.com

In today’s world, security is a major concern of every network administrator. Please do some of your own research and give some examples of “best security practices.”

Also, please see this link to Firewall FAQ’s from Microsoft.  Complete some research and discuss the need for firewalls (software and/or hardware).  Please also list one other firewall besides Microsoft’s built-in firewall.

Networking and the OSI model at ComputerTraining.com

Networking and network connectivity is a vital part of any companies business infrastructure today.  In class, we talked about a wealth of information related to networking basics, the OSI model, IP Addressing and network troubleshooting/diagnostics.

I would like you to please describe what the purpose of the OSI model is.  Why it is important to know about, and also please give an example of some technologies that work at a specific layer (you must describe at least one layer!).   You can use this OSI Link as a reference.
